"Secretary of State Hull and Other Distinguished Men Will Be Honored at the Annual Commencement Exercises; Brilliant Military Pageantry Planned and Great Turnout of Graduates Expected; Famous Fort Myer Jumping Team Will Give Exhibition"
Honorary degree recipients: Secretary of State Cordell Hull, Doctor of Laws; Judge George T. Cann, class of 1885 and Board of Trustees member, Doctor of Laws; James H. Gravell, scientist and member of the Board of Trustees, Doctor of Science; Brigadier General William G. Price, Jr., Board of Trustees member, Doctor of Military Science; Congressman D. Lane Powers, class of 1915, Master of Science; Judson Timm, coach, Master of Science in Physical Education. Secretary Hull's letter to Colonel Frank K. Hyatt accepting the commencement invitation is reprinted. The International Horse Show Team from Fort Myer will entertain at Commencement. The annual military camp of instruction will be held at Mount Gretna from May 31-June 7, 1935. Alumni Day will take place on June 8, followed by baccalaureate on June 9. Commencement will be held on June 10, 1935. Bishop Taitt will participate in the ceremony. Current senior class president Robert C. Stephenson will surrender the sash and saber to incoming president George Berlin.
"Cadets Invade P.M.C.'s Old Home at Wilmington"
Many alumni gathered at the Armory at the Non Commissioned Officers' Military dance at Wilmington, DE on May 3, 1935. The PMC glee club sang while the 198th Coast Artillery band, headed by PMC graduate Colonel J.M. Robinson, entertained. The history of PMC in Wilmington is recounted in the article. Noted honorary degree recipients are mentioned: Commander Byrd; General Pershing; President Franklin D. Roosevelt; President Warren G. Harding; Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes.
"Lowell Thomas Speaks to Cadet Battalion; Colonel Hyatt Tells of P.M.C. Life"
Lowell Thomas, radio commentator and war correspondent, spoke to the PMC community on March 4, 1935. Chester Mayor Ward introduced Thomas. Prior to Thomas' address, Colonel Frank K. Hyatt spoke of PMC cadet life. The Cadet Glee Club and Orchestra entertained.
"Cadets Lose Opener to State Teachers"
The PMC baseball team lost its season opener to West Chester State Teachers' College by the score 9-6 on April 27, 1935.
"Graduate Takes Important Business Position with York, PA. Pottery Concern"
Morton I. Rabinovitch, class of 1933 and adjutant of the Preparatory Department and instruction in engineering, has jointed the Pfaltzgraff Pottery Company at York, PA as assistant to the general manager.
"Social"
A Corps Hop was held on May 10, 1935. Receiving: Mrs. Frank K. Hyatt; Mrs. Clarence R. Day; Mrs. Samuel Lloyd Irving; Mrs. Kingsley Montgomery; Mrs. Francis H. Pope. Colonel and Mrs. Hyatt gave a dance for the seniors on May 11, 1935, and for the Senior Preparatory Class on May 17, 1935.
"Cadet Glee Club in National Hookup"
The PMC Glee Club sang in a nation-wide broadcast on the WCAU Station in Philadelphia on May 4, 1935. On May 3, 1935, the Glee Club participated in a broadcast from Wilmington, DE.
"Engagement"
Robert Scholes, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Scholes of Frankford, will marry Catherine Marie Goglia, daughter of Michael C. Goglia. William E. Scholes is a former PMC student.
"Hop"
The annual March hop took place on March 15, 1935. Receiving: Mrs. Frank K. Hyatt; Robert C. Stephenson, senior class president; George H. Berlin, Jr., junior class president; Harry Stevens, sophomore class president; Frederick T. Marciniszyn, freshman class president.
"P.M.C. Poloists Hailed by Nespapers and Leading Malletmen as Showing Last Word in Sportsmanship. Nations-Wide Acclaim Comes from P.M.C.'s Action In Offering Championship to Ridgewood Team Whose Player Young Rufner Was Fatally Injured in Title Play."
Eckford Rufner of the Ridgewood Riding Club was fatally injured in a title match between Ridgewood and PMC. The Eastern Junior indoor polo championship title went to PMC, who sought to transfer the title to Ridgewood instead, but was denied by the United States Polo Association. The title allowed PMC to play in the Junior East-West Championship. PMC withdrew from the East-West tournament in respect for Ruffner. The team and senior class attended Rufner's funeral, as well as Colonel Hyatt, Lieutenant Comfort, and Captain Schaubel. An article by Cy Peteran from the _Philadelphia Evening Bulletin_ is reprinted celebrating the cadets' sportsmanship. Team: Jack Young; Frank Kaiser; Warner Jones. Bud Combs is also mentioned as being ineligible for the Junior tournament as he now plays in the Class A tournament for the New York Athletic Club.
"P.M.C. Men Get Marine Corps Commission"
A recent Secretary of the Navy ruling dictated that fifty-six Marine officers should be selected from schools having senior ROTC units. William "Reds" Pollock and Herbert Amey were chosen and will have regular commissions as second lieutenants. Alternates were also selected: Edison Stanhope; James A. Weaver.
"Cadets Win Final Game"
The PMC basketball team defeated Moravian College by the score 45-21 on March 2, 1935 to end its season. Team: Frank Malinski; Russell McGuiney; Jim Weaver.
"Cadets Beat Tigers in Vivid Opening Mallet Battle"
The PMC polo team defeated Princeton University by the score 7-5 on May 4, 1935. Team: Frank Kaiser; Jack Young; Bud Combs; Warner Jones.
"P.M.C. Malletmen Eliminated from Intercollegiate Title Contest When Defeated by West Point"
The PMC polo team lost to West Point by the score 9-1/2 to 4 on march 28, 1935 and were thus eliminated from the annual intercollegiate polo tournament. Team: Bud Combs; Warner Jones; Jack Young. PMC defeated Cornell University by the score 12-2 on March 23, 1935 in order to play in semi-finals against West Point.
"Cadet Poloists Crush Princeton in Exciting Mallet Battle"
The PMC polo team defeated Princeton University by the score 14-1/2 to 8-1/2 on March 6, 1935. Team: Warner Jones; Bud Combs.
"Squadron C Poloists Bow to Cadet Riders"
The PMC polo team defeated Squadron C by the score 10-1/2 to 7 on March 16, 1935. Team: Bud Combs.
64 PMC cadets are interested in playing intramural baseball under Coach Dave Kaye. Kaye chose the varsity team from among the candidates. They opened their season on April 27, 1935 with West Chester State Teachers' College. Players mentioned: Frank Malinski; Russell McGuiney; Wilmer Lockwood; Frank Clark; Joe Russell; Reds Scarlett; Andy Elko; Dan McFadden; Si Sobeck.
"West Point Beats P.M.C. Stickmen"
The PMC polo team lost to West Point by the score 14-8 on February 23, 1935. Team: Bud Combs; Warner Jones; Frank Kaiser.
"Combs Stages Vivid Game on Return to Polo"
Bud Combs returned to the PMC polo team on March 2, 1935 against Pocono Manor. Combs had been out for several months with a knee injury. PMC defeated Pocono Manor by the score 16-9. Teammates: Warner Jones; Jack Young. That same night, the PMC junior varsity defeated the First Troop team by the score 15-1/2 to 2. Team: Bud Pickering; Plaut; Turrell; Ryan.
"Sophomore Sports Flashes"
A golf team has been formed: Cadets Stevens, Zimmerman, Clark, Turner, Lewis.
McFadden, Dainesi, Lockwood, and Lacek will join the varsity baseball team.
The outdoor polo team looks promising: Bud Combs; Turrell; Buck; Ryan; Iredell.
"High Honor Conferred Upon Professor Karl Agan"
Karl E. Agan, headmaster of the Preparatory School, has become a member of Phi Delta Phi National Professional Education Fraternity at the University of Pennsylvania.
"Baltimore Bows to J.V. Mallet Wielders"
The junior varsity PMC polo team defeated the 110th Field Artillery of Baltimore by the score 12-1/2 to 11 on February 28, 1935. Team: Warner Jones.

Colonel Frank K. Hyatt conducted a memorial service on April 7, 1935 for Eckford R. Rufner, a member of Ridgewood Polo team who died during a game with PMC.
Colonel Hyatt and Rev. Stanley V. Wilcox conducted a memorial service on May 1, 1935 for Mr. William Fitzhugh Endress, class of 1935, who died on April 28, 1935 in Florida due to a heart condition.
