"Cheery Picture of Life Overseas by Lt. Moore"
Contains a picture of Lieutenant Lucius L. Moore, U.S.M.C. who was Second Lieutenant of the 77th Company 1st Machine gun Battalion in the Marines. He related news from France near the front.
"W.S.S. Crimp Store's Receipts"
The College Store recently added Thrift Stamps and has noticed less trade now that cadets are not partaking of the usual luxuries.
"'Over in France'"
The first verse of a marching song created by William H. Blake, Professor of English and Glee Club moderator.
"'Bonne Chance!' Blake Leaves These Shores"
William H. Blake, had of the English Department and Glee Club director, sailed for France on Saturday, February 16, 1918. He received gifts from the cadets before his departure. Professor Karl Agan will be replacing him.
"P.M.C. Songs 'Go Over' – College Words to Trumpet Calls in 'Songs the Soldiers Sing'"
Leo Feist, Inc. of New York City published a pocket-sized volume entitled "Songs the Soldiers Sing" for the soldiers. The volume incorporate P.M.C. words to reveille, mess, sick and stable, calls.
"He Did His Bit at Appomattox, and He Still is Doing It"
Captain Clarence Walworth Backus, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Military Academy, is the oldest living staff member of General Wesley Merritt who commanded Sheridan's Cavalry Corps. He took a verbal order at Appomattox that forced the Confederate surrender. At 72 years of age, he is active in local organizations to assist the current war effort. Photograph of Backus included.
"Colonel Hyatt Reports to Board of Trustees"
At a meeting on February 14, 1918 at the Hotel Bellevue-Stratford in Philadelphia, Dr. L. Webster Fox, Major Medical Reserve Corps, Vice-President of the Board, presidedas Hon. John Wanamaker (president) was absent. In attendance: Rev. Dr. William A. Patton, major Ruckard Hurd, Rev. Francis M. Taitt, Colonel Frank G. Sweeney, Judge Oliver B. Dickinson, George C. Hetzel, General Lewis T. Bryant, Judge Norris S. Barratt, and Colonel Charles E. Hyatt. Hyatt reported that enrollment was up; applicants had been turned away. Commented on college's recent designation as an Infantry Unit, Senior Division, of the U.S. Reserve Officers' Training Corps. He also commended the work of the Chester Citizens' Corps. Reported that P.M.C. had been approved as a technical engineering school for the Army and Navy.
"'Pershing to his troops,' Holben"
Arthur F. J. Holben of Company G, 51st Infantry, reports that his division has adopted Pershing's advice to soldiers as its motto. Holben is a First Lieutenant at Camp Forrest, Georgia, where he is planning to take the Captain examination.
"'How Few Men Stand Erect,' Matty"
First Lieutenant Frank J. Matty, '05, at Camp Devens, Massachusetts, reports that his 301st Field Artillery division does not have proper carriage. He praises his P.M.C. training.
"'Opportunities For Men," Rosen"
Sergeant John Rosen, Company 11, 154th Deport Brigade writes from Camp Meade about the need for P.M.C. men.
"Hobart Wears Out Arm Saluting As Milan Celebrates U.S. Declaration Against Austria"
James C. Hobat Jr., '16, was with the American Red Cross and the Italian Army in Milan. He relates the celebratory atmosphere in Milan on December 17, 1918 when Italy learned of the American declaration of war against Austria.
"Honor Roll Scrapes Only Surface of Patriot Mine"
List of those enrolled: Alfred H. Gale, John S. Jadwin, Howell H. Thomas, George H. Timmins, John W. Aitken, Jr., W.C. Harmount, Charles G. Hequembourg, Don P. Keelor, Edward Hayes, Jerome King, Ross Kirk, William VanDyke, Willard J. Sickles.
"Six Trustees U.S. Officers"
Merritt H. Smith, Rukard Hurd, Frank Sutton, John W. Loveland, Dr. L. Webster Fox, and Gurnee Munn are Board of Trustees members now in service.
"Observe College Day of Prayer"
College Day of Prayer was held on January 31, 1918. Speakers: J.H. Jefferis of Fidelity Storage & Warehouse Company of Philadelphia and Rev. Dr. A.L. Latham of Third Presbyterian Church of Chester.
"Henry, '05, Captains Citizens"
James Henry Jr. elected captain of Chester Citizens' Corps. Succeeded Captain Edmund Cramp now in service.
"Four Lieutenant Colonels – Rapid Promotion for P.M.C. Men Serving Their Country"
To be Lieutenant Colonels: Irving J. Carr, Claude S. Fries, J.A. Hodges, Horace P. Hobbes. To be Majors: Benjamin s. Barry, John H. Jouett. To be Captains: Henry V. deHority, St. Clair Smith. To be First Lieutenants: Hyman G. Rosenbloom, Arthur P. Shock. To be Second Lieutenant: Keith B. Hubbard.
"Cadet Quintet Loses Two Games"
Basketball teams was defeated by Lebanon Valley on February 9, 1918, 28-7. Lost to University of Pennsylvania on February 16, 37-9.
"Military Institutions Show Splendid Record"
Association of Military Schools and Colleges of the United States held its annual meeting in Washington on February 7, 1918. It presented a record of service to the War Department to show the value of the schools. Colonel Charles E. Hyatt was in attendance. Major General George Barnett and Colonel John J. Bradley praised the schools' efforts.

Maor W.A. arrett of Remington Arms, with a plant at Eddystone, addressed the corps on February 11, 1918.
