Captain Lewis Sidney Morey addressed audience on January 9, 1917, discussing "Our Troops in Mexico." He discussed his service in Carrizal, Mexico. Morey gave an address in Wilmington on January 8, 1917 by invitation of Reverand Dr. U.F. Smiley of Western Presbyterian Church.

On November 21, 1916, chemistry professor Dr. Levi P. Wyman led classes in visiting the William Waterall & Company paint manufacturing plant as well as the Pilling Madeley hosiery manufacturing plant. W. Kenneth Waterall, PMC alumnus, led one tour; alumnus Richard Madeley, Jr. the other.
